The woman behind the work.

Garcy Fry

Garcy Fry

Cemetery & Funeral Pre-Planning Advisor

Lower Mainland, British Columbia

She didn't choose death work.
It chose her.

Garcy Fry is a single mother of three who has spent years guiding families across the Lower Mainland — both in planning ahead and in the immediate aftermath of a death. She has sat across from thousands of families at the hardest moment of their lives.

She has watched families fall apart under the weight of 87 decisions they weren't prepared to make. She has also watched families hold each other up — because someone, at some point, had the courage to plan ahead.

That difference changed everything she believed about life, love, and legacy.

"Every day I walk into a room where someone is trying to hold their grief together long enough to make decisions. I made a promise to myself: I would do everything I could to make sure families never had to face that alone."

In her role, Garcy has seen the full spectrum of what happens when death arrives. She has seen the relief on a family's face when their loved one had prepared — when the wishes were written down, the decisions were already made, and the only thing left to do was grieve.

She has also seen the opposite. The arguments. The guilt. The impossible choices made in shock. The financial strain. The regret that lingers long after the funeral is over.

She created Beyond the Breath because she believes every family deserves the first experience — not the second.

About life, death, and the legacy we leave.

"Facing death is not morbid. It is one of the most loving things you can do."

When you plan ahead, you are not preparing for your own death. You are protecting the people who will survive it.

"Your story matters. All of it."

The messy parts. The beautiful parts. The ordinary Tuesday afternoons. Legacy is not built in grand gestures — it is built in the details you choose to document.

"Grief is not a problem to be solved."

It is a testament to love. What we can do is remove the practical burden so that grief can be what it is meant to be: pure, undivided, and healing.

"Clarity is a gift."

When your family knows your wishes, they are freed from the weight of guessing. They can grieve. They can remember. They can celebrate who you were.

"Working in death has made me more alive than anything else ever has."

Garcy did not expect this work to transform her. She expected it to be heavy — and sometimes it is. But more than anything, it has taught her to live with intention, to love without reservation, and to say the things that matter before it is too late.

She brings that same energy to Beyond the Breath — not as a grief counselor, but as a guide. Someone who has walked this terrain and can help you navigate it with clarity, warmth, and a little bit of wit.
